"Abuloy" is a Filipino tradition which is practiced by families. There is no such rule of giving an abuloy. Although, practices and expectations vary among people and families.

I remember before, envelopes where passed around in the office when someone experiences death in the family. Thus, for me this is done as a gesture of goodwill.
