From Batac City to Paoay!

Another set of livelihood program was conducted to mothers of under-five children and to the Barangay Nutrition Scholars of the Municipality of Paoay, introducing the same set of recipes, the Camote Candy, Squash Candy and Tomato Jam last July 14, 2025 at Paoay Civic Center.

The Livelihood Program was one of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department' initiatives to support the Nutrition Month Celebration 2025.

The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Mary Grace Domingo, Nutritionist-Dietitian II, together with Cooks, Mr. Ricarte Brillantes and Mr. Roy Semanero, and Food Service Worker Mr. Harold Maligsay in coordination with the Municipality of Paoay through Ms. Brima Ragusante, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer.

In line with Nutrition Month Celebration, Ms. Mary Grace Domingo, Nutritionist-Dieititan II of MMMHMC was invited to be the resource speaker of the segment Doctor Bombo of the Bombo Radyo- Laoag last Sunday (July 13, 2025), sharing the Nutrition Month 2025 Talking Points and its key messages to the public.

As part of the nutrition month celebration, the Nutrition and Dietetics Department introduced how to prepare Tomato Jam, Sweet Potato Candy and Squash Fruit Candy which could be a source of livelihood and can be served as a nutritious food for their families to mothers from the different barangays of the City of Batac held at Cangrunaan Community Center on July 03, 2025. It was also attended by several Barangay Nutrition Scholars from the city as well.

These products were selected considering that sweet potato, squash fruit and tomatoes are some of the common local products in the province that can be processed during its peak seasons when supply is higher than its demand.

The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Mary Grace Domingo, Nutritionist-Dietitian II together with Cooks Mr. Ricarte Brillantes and Roy Semanero and FSW Harold Maligsay in coordination with the City Nutrition Committee of the City of Batac through Ms. Lovely Alibuyog, the City Nutrition Action Officer.

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department (NDD) together with the Nutrition Support Unit (NSU) of MMMH&MC launched the 51st nutrition month celebration with the theme: "FOOD AT NUTRITION SECURITY, MAGING PRIORITY! SAPAT NA PAGKAIN, KARAPATAN NATIN! on July 30, 2025 during the flag raising ceremony together with the Nutrition Support Unit (NSU) at the OPD Covered Court.

Overview of the Nutrition Month Talking Points was presented by ND III Nancy Paclos followed by the 2025 Nutrition Month Pledge by ND III Hershey Angeles.

Other activities for the month long celebration of the 2025 nutrition month celebration were announced by ND IV Ma. Christine Dumlao which include the food trade at the covered court offering healthy food options, lectures and cooking contest in several high schools in selected municipalities, introduction of livelihood programs to selected municipalities, lectures during Buntis Day every Thursdays at the City Health Office and lectures to several mothers in the City of Batac, Sports Nutrition lecture featuring Coach Jeanette Aro, RND, nutrition quiz bee to be participated by the different departments of the institution, Zumba every Friday for the month of July from 5:30pm-6:30pm and free nutrition counseling for all referred OPD and in-patients.
