On January 26, 2026, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center conducted a Goiter Awareness activity at the MMMHMC OPD Covered Court. The activity aimed to increase public awareness on goiter, a common thyroid condition in the region, by providing information on its causes, risk factors, signs and symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of early detection and appropriate medical management. The activity was spearheaded by Dr. Ronald Sadian, Medical Specialist, with the support of Dr. Lawrence Roi Reyes and Dr. Leoner Rosales, first-year residents of the department. Health education discussions were conducted to encourage timely consultation and to prevent complications associated with untreated thyroid enlargement. The activity was attended by more than fifty participants, who actively engaged in the discussion, demonstrating heightened awareness and interest in thyroid health.
