Day 8 Highlight of the National Hospital Week
August 19, 2025 | MMMH&MC Hosts Second Governance Summit
The Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC), in partnership with the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA), successfully hosted the Governance Summit and Best Practice Sharing with the theme โAdvancing Good Governance and Wellness at Work Towards Bagong Pilipinasโ on August 19, 2025. The event brought together healthcare leaders, local officials, and partner institutions to share innovations and experiences that strengthen governance and promote workplace wellness.
The summit opened with welcome messages from Hon. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, Governor of Ilocos Norte, and Atty. Alexander L. Lacson, Member of the Board of Trustees, ISA.
Best practices from MMMH&MC were presented by its leaders, including Dr. Maria Lourdes K. Otayza, who shared the hospitalโs journey of sustained governance and progressive care; Dr. Jessa R. de Guzman, who introduced the Occupational Health Management System of the hospital; Dr. Regienald Afroilan, who tackled the role of mental health in effective governance; Mr. Gold Mendoza, who shared initiatives on green healthcare and sustainable facilities; and Mr. Dennis Rubio, who introduced innovations through the MyHealth App patient portal.
Sharing also came from partner institutions with topics on human experience, province-wide health systems, and community health engagement, led by Ms. Maria Karina N. Hernandez, Dr. Trina Tabboga-Talaga, and Mayor Mary Chrislyn Abadilla, respectively.
The summit garnered nationwide participation, a total of 695 attendees with 289 engagements through Webex and 55 via Facebook Live; reflecting its wide reach and the growing interest in advancing governance and wellness in the workplace. The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Francisco Ranada III, Overall Chair of NHW 2025.
The event served as a reminder that collaboration, accountability, and compassion are vital in advancing the vision of a healthier and more resilient Bagong Pilipinas.
