𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡: 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫

In celebration of Diabetes Awareness Week 2025, the Diabetes Center of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC), led by Dr. Melanie Grace P. Valdez, held a health education and wellness community event on July 31, 2025, at the Paoay Civic Center.

The activity brought together 99 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from Paoay, Ilocos Norte, to strengthen their understanding of diabetes and other related health issues.

The day began with free blood sugar and uric acid screenings, followed by an energetic Zumba session. The highlight of this event was a series of brief but meaningful lectures delivered by experts on diabetes, covering topics such as common diabetes facts and myths, as well as practical tips on reading food labels for healthier choices.

This activity was made possible through the collaboration of MMMH&MC with the Philippine College of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, the Ilocos Norte Medical Society, the Philippine College of Physicians (P*P) Ilocos-Abra Chapter, and the Local Government Unit of Paoay.

LOOK: MMMHMC was recognized today as a key partner in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) during the Ilocos Norte Provincial ‘Pammigbig Awards’ held at SM City Laoag.

Organized by the Provincial DRRM and Resiliency Office, the awarding ceremony honored institutions who have made significant contributions and support to the province’s initiatives to uphold the welfare of the Ilokano community during times of crisis.

This recognition reinforces MMMHMC’s continued commitment to advancing DRRM efforts and building a safer, more resilient Ilocos Norte.

MMMHMC Celebrates the 47th National Disability Rights Week

MMMHMC culminates its weeklong celebration of the 47th National Disability Rights Week through a community service initiative with the theme 'Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together,' held today, July 30, 2025, at Catalino Acosta Memorial Elementary School.

The event is attended by 68 participants from the Special Education Center, together with their parents and teachers. School kits, food kits, and hygiene kits are being distributed. The food packs and hygiene kits were generously donated by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.

MMMHMC Joins the 30th Police Community Relations Month Celebration

Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC) participated in the 30th Police Community Relations Month Celebration today, July 29, 2025, at the Amphitheater, Pinili, Ilocos Norte.

The MMMHMC medical team offered a range of services including dental care, medical consultations, psychosocial assessments and counseling. Also, various stakeholders contributed by providing services such as cellphone repair, free haircuts, and a feeding and raffle program.

A total of 276 residents from Pinili benefited from the activity. Among those present were PCol Joemar Q. Labiano, Provincial Director of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office; Hon. Rommel T. Labasan, Municipal Mayor; Local Government Unit officials; representatives from MMMHMC, Ilocos Norte Medical Society, and the Philippine Dental Association–Ilocos Norte; and the Pinili Municipal Police Station, which served as the lead agency of the event.

This activity highlights the power of collective and collaborative action in delivering community-centered services. Through strong partnerships and shared goals, we move closer to building healthier communities.

Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center is proud to be selected as one of the finalists for the International Hospital Federation (IHF) Awards 2025!

Out of more than 700 entries from hospitals and healthcare institutions across 38 countries and territories, only 81 finalists have been shortlisted after a rigorous judging process.

The winners—Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honourable Mentions—will be announced at the prestigious IHF Awards Ceremony and Gala Reception on 12 November, during the 48th IHF World Hospital Congress in Geneva. This global gathering of over 300 hospital and healthcare leaders will celebrate the most outstanding innovations and achievements in healthcare.

Good nutrition is crucial for elderly individuals as it significantly impacts their physical and mental health, helping them maintain strength, prevent diseases, and enhance their overall well-being.

In celebration of Nutrition Month 2025, the Geriatric Center Committee of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center will conduct a Nutrition lecture and a cooking demonstration for a healthy snack and beverage on July 28, 2025, 9:00 am at the 5th floor Function Hall.
