🛡️🔍 Knowledge is Protection: A Lecture on Everyday Dangers

Last August 5, the Toxicology Specialty Center Advocacy for Poison Prevention visited Mahabang Dahilig Senior High School for a dynamic, school-based lecture on substance abuse, common household poisons, and microplastics.

Students explored the hidden risks of drug use, alcohol, va**ng, and smoking, and learned how everyday items—from cleaning products to plastics—can pose serious health and environmental threats.

By raising awareness of both chemical and behavioral hazards, this initiative empowers youth to make safer, smarter choices for themselves and their communities. 🌱🧠

🧪🔥 Building Bridges for Safety!

Today, August 7, 2025, the Toxicology Specialty Center of Batangas Medical Center met with the City Fire Marshal to strengthen our collaboration on hazardous materials (HazMat) response. This milestone reflects our shared commitment to public health, emergency readiness, and inter-agency coordination in addressing chemical emergencies—both within our facility and across the community.

Together, we’re laying the groundwork for future drills, training, and life-saving protocols. 💪👩‍⚕️👨‍🚒

Strengthening our chemical emergency response! Last July 31, the Toxicology Specialty Center headed by OIC/Head Dra. Busilak Grace Verceles- Evangelista and whole Tox Team, HEDMU represented by Dr. Jose Tenorio (Head) and Dr. Kim Byron De Villa (Medical Officer IV), and Department of Emergency Medicine participated by Dr. James Patrick Gador (Medical Officer IV), together with the help of other hospital personnel joined forces in a hands-on decontamination tent setup exercise. This drill is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure swift, coordinated and effective action during chemical incidents.
