Today, our hospital actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as part of our commitment to safety and preparedness. At exactly 4:00PM, the alarm sounded, signaling the start of the drill. Patients, staff, and visitors immediately practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, ensuring protection from potential falling debris.
Hospital personnel at surgery first and second floor guided by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit (HEDMU), carried out evacuation protocols, assisting patients and prioritizing those in critical care. Emergency teams were mobilized to designated evacuation areas, while communication and coordination channels were tested to ensure an efficient response.
The drill highlighted the importance of vigilance, teamwork, and readiness in a hospital setting where patient safety is the top priority. Through this activity, we continue to strengthen our disaster preparedness and resilience, ensuring that we are equipped to respond effectively during real emergencies.
Representatives from the Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office served as evaluators during the activity. They provided guidance throughout the process and offered valuable comments and observations on the conduct of the evacuation and drill, which will serve as important inputs in further improving the hospital’s preparedness and response measures.
