Oral prophylaxis is a dental procedure that involves the thorough cleaning of the teeth and gums to prevent oral diseases like cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease.
It typically includes:
Scaling – removal of plaque and tartar (calculus) from the teeth surfaces, especially near the gum line.
Polishing – smoothing and shining the teeth to remove surface stains and make it harder for plaque to accumulate.

It’s usually recommended every 6 months as part of routine dental care.
