Today, January 28, Global Care Cancer Institute (GCCI) successfully conducted a Breast Cancer Lay Forum with the Retired Teachers of Bay, Laguna, aimed at promoting awareness, early detection, and informed decision making about breast cancer.

The forum was led by our very own Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Abdel Jeffri A. Abdulla, who shared valuable insights, addressed common concerns, and answered frequently asked questions about breast cancer and its treatment. Through this discussion, participants were empowered with knowledge they can use for themselves and their loved ones.

As part of the activity, YAKAP Program registration, facilitated by Global Care Medical Center of Bay (GCMCB), was also conducted for GCCI employees and attending retired teachers, reinforcing our shared commitment to continuous care, support, and compassion beyond treatment.

We thank everyone who joined us and continue to stand with our community in advocating for cancer awareness and patient centered care.

We officially launch our Faces of Care series with Dr. Timothy Joseph S. Uy, our Medical Oncologist, who specializes in the screening, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult solid tumors.

Trained in service-oriented institutions such as East Avenue Medical Center and UP–Philippine General Hospital, Dr. Uy believes that cancer care goes beyond science. It means guiding patients and families through fear, uncertainty, and the many challenges they face throughout their cancer journey.

“Cancer is a word, not a sentence.” With advances in medicine, trust in science, and faith, cancer becomes a chapter in life—not the whole story.

Today, we celebrate Ma’am Iya Gozum, a truly remarkable patient who has completed her cervical cancer treatment, both radiation and brachytherapy. Known for her bubbly personality, warm smile, and kind heart, she brought light to everyone around her even during the most challenging days of treatment.

Cervical cancer treatment is never easy. There were long sessions, physical strain, and emotional hurdles, but Ma’am Iya faced each challenge with courage, positivity, and an unwavering spirit. Each fraction of her treatment was a step toward healing, and today, that journey reaches a milestone worth honoring.

Layunin naming na gawing mas abot-kaya at mas accessible ang cancer treatment, Lalo na para sa mga pasyenteng nangangailangan ng tulong. Sa pamamagitan ng PhilHealth at ng GCCI Patient Assistance Program (G-PAP), maaari nang ma-avail ng kwalipikadong pasyente ang brachytherapy nang walang dagdag na gastos.
