Survey lines are markings on a tooth’s surface determined using a dental surveyor in removable partial denture (RPD) planning. They indicate the height of contour, guiding clasp placement and ensuring proper retention.  

Uses of Survey Lines:

👉🏻 Clasp Design: Helps position retentive and reciprocal arms for optimal engagement.  

👉🏻 Undercut Location: Identifies suitable areas for clasp retention.  

👉🏻 Path of Insertion: Aids in determining the best direction for RPD placement and removal.  

👉🏻 Tooth Modification: Assists in adjusting contours to improve prosthesis fit and function.  

Proper survey line assessment ensures stability, retention, and longevity of the RPD
