Anyone who takes part in this process of hearing and chanting, he becomes pious, purified. Just like if you touch some way or other the fire, it will act, similarly, Kṛṣṇa is spiritual. You hear about Kṛṣṇa; then it will act. Then you'll be purified.

When a person receives the seed of devotional service, he should take care of it by becoming a gardener and sowing the seed in his heart. If he waters the seed gradually by the process of śravaṇa and kīrtana [hearing and chanting], the seed will begin to sprout.

O my Lord, Your Holy Name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of Names, like Krishna, Govinda,Madana Mohana, and so on. In these transcendental Names You have invested all Your transcendental energy. There are not even any hard and fast rules for chanting Your Holy Name. O my Lord, out of Your kindness You enable us to easily approach You by Your Holy Names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.

Breathwork, wisdom, mantras, and music — one peaceful August evening together.

From calming breathwork and gentle seated stretches, to uplifting yoga wisdom and soothing japa meditation — the night ended with joyful kirtan. It was beautiful to see everyone leave with softer smiles and lighter hearts.

The beginning of bhakti, or devotional service, is to hear, is to chant and hear. Unless there is chanting, there is no question of hearing. Hear means somebody must be chanting. Either we chant with musical sound or we chant by lectures of Bhagavad-gītā, this is all chanting. And the others, they are hearing. So this hearing and chanting is the beginning of bhakti, or devotional service.

When a person chants, the mantra begins to evoke more and more feeling. It does not become dull or mechanical, but instead it more and more pulls out the longing of the soul to actually be established in a loving relationship with the Supreme Soul. The more a person chants the mantra, the more he begins to experience the Supreme Soul in the mantra Itself. He begins to taste the Supreme there, and the mantra comes to be experienced as being very sweet.

Lord Chaitanya came and inaugurated the movement of the chanting and hearing of God’s names. But it’s not a new instruction, you see. He’s just inaugurating what’s already sitting there in scripture.

In every scripture of the world, you will find that the method for achieving, not only purification of sinful reactions, but the method for achieving that which is beyond salvation, beyond purification of sinful reactions, namely love for God; this is achievable by the hearing and repeating of God’s names.
