Protecting a newborn means being mindful, respectful, and putting the baby’s health first. Visitors should make sure they are up to date on vaccines like TDAP, flu, and COVID before meeting a newborn, practice good hygiene like hand washing, and postpone the visit if they feel sick. Taking precautions before meeting new babies helps keep their first days safe, calm, and healthy.

Excess in early childhood reduces exposure to adult speech and conversational exchanges, which may negatively affect language development. Shared viewing and educational content can help mitigate these effects.
