On ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐, Southern Leyte State University - Bontoc Campus (SLSU-Bontoc), through its in-house practicum trainees, successfully conducted a Lecture and Field Demonstration on sustainable agriculture at the SLSU-Bontoc Campus.
The participants were farmers from Sitio Hagna, Kahupian, Sogod, Southern Leyte, who engaged in science-based learning sessions focused on improving agricultural practices.
This activity was held in partnership with the ๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐ (๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ) ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ, the Department of Agricultural Sciences (๐๐๐ ๐), the SLSU-Bontoc Agriculture Students Society (๐๐๐๐๐), and the Municipal Agriculture Office (๐๐๐), BLGU-Kahupian, Sogod Southern Leyte.
The lecture session featured three expert resource speakers from SLSU-Bontoc.
๐๐ซ. ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ก๐จ๐ง ๐. ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฒ๐จ๐ง, a Postharvest Major under the Master of Science in Horticulture, discussed proper crop handling and storage techniques to reduce postharvest losses. ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ฐ๐ข๐ง ๐. ๐๐จ๐-๐๐ง๐ , ๐๐ซ., a Plant Pathology Major under the Master of Science in Plant Protection, focused on the identification and management of plant diseases to maintain crop health and productivity. Meanwhile, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐จ๐๐ฅ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐, an expert in Agricultural Development and Soil Management, highlighted sustainable land practices and emphasized the importance of soil conservation for long-term agricultural sustainability.

The activity also featured a hands-on field demonstration and site visit, facilitated with the assistance of first-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) students. This allowed the participants to apply the knowledge gained from the lectures through practical, real-time experience.
The event concluded with a ceremonial photo, symbolizing the meaningful collaboration between the university, partner agencies, and the local farming community.
