Thank you UNFPA Asia and the Pacific. We will continue our mission/vision of saving lives❤

Midwives save lives.

That was true before - and it's all the more true amid the pandemic.

But far too often, midwives have paid the ultimate price during this ongoing crisis - working without adequate personal protection equipment on many occasions and sacrificing their lives while trying to save mothers and their newborns.

Our Regional Sexual and Reproductive Health Adviser, Catherine Breen-Kamkong and other UNFPA colleagues have published this heartfelt tribute - and plea - on behalf of midwives in Asia-Pacific and indeed everywhere:
