Pecuaria Development Cooperative (PDCI) is an agrarian reform beneficiary cooperative organization. It has a membership of 426 agrarian beneficiaries sharing a total 817 hectares from the estates of Pecuaria distributed in 1992. PDCI’s effort to adopt organic agriculture started as early as 1994 through the adoption of Masipag technology. The effort towards adoption of organic agriculture continued in 1997 after conducting series of farmer’s field school training. By 2005, the process of organic certification started where eventually in 2007, Organic Certification Center of the Philippines (OCCP) certification was given to PDCI. Coinciding with the organic agriculture production, PDCI entered into rice trading in 1997. This is to support its primary activity of promoting organic agriculture and ensuring that produce are sold at a premium price. Through its active and continued practice and promotion of organic agriculture, PDCI is put into the map in Bicol as well in the national level as one important player in the sector.
