Buruanga Peer Educators Win Third Place in Population Quiz Bee

The Buruanga Peer Educators, represented by Jheam Kean Vhanz T. Iguiron of Buruanga National High School and Berlinjan E. Labindao of Buruanga Vocational School, won 3rd Place in the Population Quiz Bee during the Aklan Peer Educators Summit Year 3 held at the Aklan Training Center, Kalibo, Aklan, on October 28, 2025.

Their achievement brought pride to the Buruanga Primary Care Facility, led by Dr. Rizal R. Labindao Jr., Municipal Health Officer, and inspired fellow youth advocates to continue promoting population and health awareness in the community.

This success was made possible through the continued support of the Local Government Unit of Buruanga, under the leadership of Hon. Allan P. Dagohoy, Municipal Mayor.

Aklan Peer Educators Summit Year 3

The Buruanga Peer Educators, under the supervision of the Buruanga Primary Care Facility headed by Dr. Rizal R. Labindao Jr., Municipal Health Officer, proudly participated in the 3rd Aklan Peer Educators Summit held at the Aklan Training Center, Kalibo, Aklan.

The annual summit brought together peer educators from across the province with the goal of strengthening youth leadership, promoting health awareness, and fostering camaraderie among young advocates. Throughout the event, participants took part in various activities and competitions designed to showcase their knowledge, creativity, and advocacy skills.

The Buruanga Peer Educators enthusiastically joined several contests, including the Pop Quiz Bee, PeerEd Got Talent, Mr. and Ms. Peer Educators, and the Advocacy Video Competition, among others. These activities tested not only their understanding of health-related topics but also their teamwork, confidence, and communication skills.

The summit served as an inspiring platform for young leaders to exchange ideas, share best practices, and reaffirm their commitment to youth development and community health promotion. The active participation of the Buruanga Peer Educators underscores their dedication to empowering their peers and supporting the goals of the Adolescent Health and Development Program.

As part of the Tourism Week celebration, the Buruanga Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), in collaboration with the Municipal Health Office – Adolescent Reproductive Health and Mental Health Program, successfully hosted a meaningful day of youth-centered activities last September 16.

📌 Youth Talk (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM):
A series of empowering talks highlighted youth awareness and action on:
✔️ The Role of Youth in Tourism
✔️ Voter’s Education for the Youth
✔️ Mental Health Awareness
✔️ Teenage Pregnancy Prevention

The event gathered youth leaders, students from different schools, and members of various youth organizations across Buruanga.

Together, we informed, inspired, and shined—proving once again that the youth of Buruanga are strong voices for change. 🌟
