Wilhelm Roentgen Invents X-ray 💡

Funny enough, this was done by accident!
The German scientist was investigating the path of electricity when he noticed that the image stuck to a paper and contained details that could not be seen in an ordinary photograph.

After making a few adjustments, he took the very first x-ray of a human hand.

He would go on to win the Nobel Prize in Physics for 1901.

Ultrasound 🔊

What role does sound play in medical imaging diagnostics? The use of ultrasound, which generates sound waves of 20,000 per second and provides a detailed image.

The first paper was published in 1942 by Austrian professor Karl Theodore Dussik, who used ultrasound in brain medicine.
Later, in the 1950s, Scottish professor Ian Donald developed practical applications for this technology.

CT Scan 🔦

The CT scan, also known as computed tomography, was invented in 1972. The British engineer Godfrey Hounsfield and the South African physicist Allan Cormack are considered responsible for this invention.

The first CT scanners took hours to acquire an image. Today, thousands of CT machines are in use in the U.S. alone, capable of acquiring images within minutes.
