Dear parents/guardians,
We are currently experiencing another surge of covid-19 infections in Butuan City/Caraga Region probably brought about by the omicron variant. Since Jan 1, we have been seeing an increasing trend of children being infected, although most of the infections are mild and can be safely managed at home in close coordination with your pediatrician. Although infections can be mild in previously healthy children, it can be severe or critical for children with underlying medical conditions like in those children with heart, lung, kidney, neurologic and endocrine problems, HIV, obesity and other comorbids conditions.
Friendly reminder parents/guardians, please please ayaw na ninyo sila ubana sa inyong mga lakaw or ilaag sa malls/establishments, crowded places and stay at home lang sa sila for now while there is surge of infections. As parents/guardians, please dont forget to strictly follow the minimum public health protocols for you to not get infected and not spread the infection to your household members esp to your children. Remember, even if fully vaccinated, you are still required to follow the minimum public health protocols bec asymptomatic or mild breakthrough infections may possibly occur.
If you or your child have symptoms, self isolate to prevent further spread of infections, seek consult and Do not self medicate with antibiotics kay ang covid VIRUS, dili Bacteria na mag need antibiotics. Although antibiotics may be given if there is a secondary bacterial infection depending on the assessment of your physician.
