From a wife, a mom, a Davaoeรฑa.

A reminder that conviction isnโ€™t always loud.
Sometimes, it simply remembers.
______

Iโ€™m a Davaoeรฑa.
A wife. A mom.
An ordinary citizen.
Just someone who lives here, walks these streets, and raises a child in this city.

And I have something to say about what just happened.

Rodrigo Duterte.
Detained in The Hague.
But just

Vice mayor? His son.
Congressmen in all 3 districts? Allies.
City council? Swept.

Every. Single. Seat.

How did that happen?

Simple.

Here in Davao?
We call it ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป.

You can be pro-Duterte.
You can be anti-Duterte.
Thatโ€™s democracy.

But ๐™ฌ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™˜๐™–๐™ฃโ€™๐™ฉ ๐™™๐™ค is erase what the man did for this cityโ€ฆ and for this country.

We didnโ€™t vote because of nostalgia.
We voted because we
We remember what Davao
And what it ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ.

From nightly gunshots to peaceful sidewalks.
From fear to order.
From chaos to structure.

Weโ€™ve seen what ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป looks like.

And no amount of headlines can cancel our

This isnโ€™t blind loyalty.
Itโ€™s clear-eyed acknowledgment.
Of results. Of real work.
Of a leadership style thatโ€™s as firm as it is controversialโ€ฆ
Firm. Flawed. Fierce.

Some call it dangerous.
We call it Davaoโ€™s backbone.
Never bought.
Never for sale.

So yes, heโ€™s behind bars.
But even from The Hague, his leadership still echoed through the ballots.

We didnโ€™t vote for a name.

We voted for the kind of governance that

To outsiders, this might look like fanaticism.
But to us?
Itโ€™s gratitude.
Itโ€™s memory.

Itโ€™s belief in the kind of leadership that didnโ€™t just talkโ€ฆ it delivered.

And maybeโ€ฆ a bit of stubborn hope.

Because once youโ€™ve seen what strong, consistent leadership can build, youโ€™ll never settle for less.

With the elections fast approaching, this needs to be said.

Every month, our elected officials โ€” mayors, vice mayors, councilors, representatives, and senators โ€” receive high salaries.

And where does that money come from? From us. From the taxes we pay.
Yes, even students, housewives, and the unemployed contribute โ€” every time you buy something, you pay VAT.
We are the ones funding their salaries.

While many of us struggle to survive on minimum wage โ€” with deductions and rising living costs โ€” we must realize how critical it is to vote wisely.

Their job is to:

Represent our interests

Create laws and policies to improve lives

Manage public resources responsibly โ€” including the money we work so hard to earn

But sadly, too often we see:
They earn more than enough, enjoy countless perks and benefits โ€” and still, some choose to steal.
Then they distract us with dance moves or sweet promises โ€” and we forget whatโ€™s at stake.

Meanwhile, we who pay their salaries live paycheck to paycheck.
Is that fair to you?

Choose leaders with integrity.
Leaders who understand sacrifice.
Leaders who wonโ€™t just talk โ€” but will act for the good of all.

Your vote isnโ€™t just for today โ€” it will shape the next 6 years.
And it may define the future your children will live in.
