The Caraga Regional Technical Working Group on Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project convened its Third Quarter Meeting, 23 September 2025 at the Southville, Butuan City.

On behalf of OIC RD Sadaila Raki-in, Dr. Sandria Yu presided over the meeting. The RTWG discussed the Internal Verification Report and updated the body on the component 1 implementation process.

A resolution on the approval of the Internal Verification scores was moved by RNPC Nino Archid Labordo which was then signed by all members present.

The PMNP in Caraga region is making better implementation output as reported which was lauded by the RTWG.

Talking about “lifestyle” or “healthy choices” can make it sound like noncommunicable diseases are only about personal decisions, while ignoring other factors that shape health.

What people eat, drink, breathe, and buy depends on policies, environments, and access.

Our environment is shaped by economic and commercial influences.

With a new UN Political declaration on NCDs and only 5 years to 2030, we need to use language that reflects reality: policies and systems shape healthy environments.

Words shape policy; policy saves lives.

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga proudly joins the entire nation in celebrating National Filipino Family Week 2025 from September 22 to 27, 2025, with the theme:

DEPDev Caraga Conference Hall, J. Rosales Avenue, Butuan City | September 17, 2025

A resolution from the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) Caraga was endorsed during the 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Regional Development Council - Social Development Committee (RDC-SDC), held on September 17, 2025, at the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Caraga Regional Office in Butuan City.

Representing Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) Dr. Niño Archie S. Labordo, Nutrition Officer II Mae C. Ramoco, RND, presented the resolution titled “TESDA Community Nutrition Services National Certificate II (CNS NC II) Skills Training Program as Recommended Training for Barangay Nutrition Scholars.” The presentation was included as part of the agenda for endorsement.

Following the presentation, the resolution received the approval of the august body. It will then be forwarded for further endorsement at the 3rd Quarter Regional Development Council (RDC) Meeting.

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga extends its heartfelt congratulations to all Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) who have been recognized for their outstanding performance during the 2025 Caraga Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony.

We also proudly commend our regional line agency partners, media partners, academe, youth organizations, civil society organizations, and other dedicated nutrition networks and individuals who were honored for their significant contributions and support in the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028.

May the 2025 RNAC not only mark the milestones we have achieved together, but also serve as a powerful reminder of the shared commitment and collective responsibility we all carry in building a healthier, well-nourished, and empowered Caraga Region—and ultimately, a stronger nation.

2025 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (Part 1)

The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) is conducted annually, led by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in collaboration with national government agencies and nutrition networks. It serves as the primary tool for assessing the effectiveness of LGU-led nutrition programs and the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).

This year, the MELLPI Pro in the Caraga Region was held from April to July 2025, culminating in a regional deliberation on July 28, 2025. The results became the official basis for selecting outstanding LGUs and stakeholders for the 2025 Nutrition Awarding Ceremony.

To honor these exemplary efforts, the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) held the 2025 Caraga Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on September 19, 2025, at 9:30 AM, at the VCDU Prince Hotel – Imadejas, Butuan City.

NNC Caraga extends its deepest gratitude to all local nutrition focal points, LGUs, partner networks, and stakeholders who contributed to the continued success of this year’s evaluation and awarding.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY- The National Nutrition Council ( NNC) led by its OIC Executive Director, Atty. Rosalina U. Bascao together with the 5 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinators in Mindanao joined the 2025 Inter-Agency Consultation-Workshop of Bangsamoro Umpungan sa Nutrisyon (BangUn) on 16-18 September 2025 at Venue 88, General Santos City.

The consultative-workshop gathered DSWD key officials, partners, and stakeholders which aimed at advancing nutrition programs for the Bangsamoro communities and the plans to expand the program to other remote areas in Mindanao.

DSWD Undersecretary Eduardo M. Punay, Assistant Secretary Atty. Baldr Bringas, and partners of the BangUn program including the NNC actively engaged during the first day of the activity.

A consultation with the NNC happened during the second day where inputs on strengthering the program was discussed and ways forward were highlighted.

The BangUn program which started in 2017 is seen good results in terms of the malnutrition particularly in the reduction of stunting and wasting in the selected areas of BARMM. #
