Caraga Health Research and Development Consortium (CHRDC)

Caraga Health Research and Development Consortium (CHRDC) CHRDC aims to establish and strengthen the system of collaboration in Caraga among the stakeholders Dr. Jaime C. Santos Hospital, Butuan City in May 13, 2008.

BRIEF HISTORY:
The establishment of the CHRDC started last October 16, 2007. Montoya, Executive Director of the PCHRD presented to the participants from academe, health institutions and line agencies involved in the implementation of health services the situation of the health status of the Filipino people and conducted a briefing on the Philippine National health Research System and the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA) and the need to establish the Regional Health Research System in the region .. As an offshoot of the said activity and after several consultations, the CHRDC Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the member institutions and PCHRD was signed at M.J. Head of CHRDC member-institutions together with PCHRD Executive Director, Dr. Jaime Montoya confirmed their commitment of support to the newly created health research and development council. CHRDC Vision, Mission and Objectives
In line with the national goal of bridging the gaps the health situation, identifying the solution to health problems and emerging concerns and prioritizing health research and development areas, members of the consortium convene last July 9, 2008 to formulate the CHRDC Vision, Mission and Objectives. VISION:

A dynamic health research community for the attainment of health Caraga Region. MISSION:
CHRDC is committed to:
1. For collaboration, resource sharing and partnerships among stakeholders through research and development
2. Ensure that its research outputs contribute to policy decisionnmaking and health-related actions. OBJECTIVES:
The primary objective of the CHRDC is to establish and strengthen the system of collaboration in Caraga among the stakeholders engaged in health research and development to improve the health conditions of its people. Specifically, the consortium aims to:

1. Identify and implement priority health research and development programs and projects;
2. Develop the capacity of the member-institutions on health research and development;
3. Establish a system of collaboration and resource sharing in undertaking health research and development programs and projects
4. Generate resources for health-related researches consistent with the regional and national health research and development agenda;
5. Promote utilization of health research and development findings; and;
6. Develop mechanisms and implement strategies to ensure long-term viability of the CHRDC.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Caraga Health Research and Development Consortium (CHRDC) held the ๐˜—๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต ๐˜๐˜: ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ž๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ on October 28โ€“29, 2025, at Go Hotels, Butuan City.

This two-day activity aims to further strengthen the research capability of Caragaโ€™s health researchers by refining and enhancing their research proposals for possible funding. Participants are guided by expert mentors and resource speakers Dr. Jocelyn C. Jumawan, Professor VI and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Ecosystem Science and Eco-Governance, and Ms. Karen B. Burdeos-Ambray, MSc, Associate Professor IV from the College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Caraga State University.

During the session, participants from Surigao del Norte State University, Caraga State University, Agusan del Sur College of Agriculture and Technology and Surigao Education Center presented their research proposals for comments, guidance, and technical recommendations from the mentors to ensure rigor, feasibility, and alignment with ethical and scientific standards.

This initiative is part of CHRDCโ€™s continuing efforts to build a dynamic and competent health research community in Caraga. ๐Ÿ’š

The Caraga Health Research and Development Consortium (CHRDC) successfully conducted its ๐—ข๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฃ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฝ ๐—–๐—ฌ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ last September 18โ€“19, 2025 at Amarah Hotel, Butuan City.

The activity was facilitated by Dr. John Carlo M. Malabad and Ms. Mercy Mae Alegrado from DOST-PCHRD, and was actively participated in by CHRDC committee members representing various member-institutions, namely:

The two-day workshop served as a venue to review the consortiumโ€™s accomplishments, address challenges, and set measurable targets for the upcoming year, ensuring that CHRDCโ€™s initiatives remain aligned with the regional health needs and the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA).

Together, we continue to build a stronger, more collaborative, and impactful health research community in Caraga.
