Sa mga ganitong pagkakataon lang ako nakakatakas upang magkaroon ng quality time kay Mira.

Sa araw-araw na mga ganap sa buhay ko, gigising ng umaga, procedures, clinic hanggang gabi, procedures after clinic, pag-uwi tulog na si Mira. Araw-araw, Lunes hanggang Sabado, minsan pati Linggo may emergencies, kapag may mga conference lang kahit papano ay nakakatakas ako para kay Mira.

Ang bilis ng panahon. Biglang laki na ng anak ko. Sana bumagal ang oras para mas madami pa akong oras kasama ka, anak.

My foot lost a LOYAL ingrown today.

I has been with me for some time now. And I must accept it was a bit clingy, hence the term ‘loyal’.

But last night, I started to notice a pain on my 5th digit. Mejo sumasabit na din sa beddings kasi. So i asked my husband if we bought a nailcutter with us. “yes”.

But I decided to give it a second chance. Since was will be going home tomorrow, magpapedicure na lang ako bukas. Pero sumasabit talaga and I was not comfortable anymore.

I stared at my ingrown, grabbed the nailcutter and decided on a painful separation. I did not complain as I watched my ingrown on the floor and I slowly walked away. For I know by tomorrow that ingrown will be on the garbage can. I am sure na after a week or so, babalik din ulit sya.

So farewell for now, my LOYAL ingrown.

Almost 500% increase in HIV cases.

What can we do now to protect ourselves and help in preventing the growing number of cases?

First, alam nyo na ba na walang cure for HIV? Once we acquire the disease, anjan na yan sa katawan natin forever…. BUT, may mga gamot, antiretrovirals, na will prevent replication of the virus, hence will help infected patients to live longer with little to no complications with proper intake of meds.

- ABSTINENCE is the ultimate protection against contracting HIV

- use condoms…. Not only it will prevent pregnancy, it will also prevent transmission of HIV and other s*xually transmitted infections like gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, ge***al warts, etc.

- have yourself checked, REGULARLY. Maybe may increase na sa population ng nagpapacheck kaya mataas din ang detection rate hence nagreflect sa number of cases. Libre lang po magpacheck sa mga city health offices.

- it is always helpful to be precautious when engaging to any s*xual activties, same s*x (MSM) or not. It pays to be praning. Madali magdeclare na HIV-free ang sarili dahil walang symptoms when in fact nasa incuation period lang pala.

- also don’t be like Patrick. May advantage din maging monogamous, don’t cheat. Also if balidoso kang tao, and also praning, hanapan mo ng HIV screening result ang manliligaw bago mo ibigay ang matamis na oo.

- parents, educate your children. S*x education should always start at home. Nakakabahala na ang youngest case of HIV ay 12 years old. Sana vertical transmission lang ito (nakuha sa mother na HIV infected) at di dahil sa early coitarche.

- also don’t do dr*gs, especially yung mga injections, mataas din ang HIV transmission thru sharing of needles.

Basta, ang bottomline ay, MAG-IINGAT po ang lahat. Libre lang magpa-screen. If high risk, magpa-screen.

Para sa mga buntis in preterm labor na may history ng preterm delivery at short cervix (less than 2.5cm), VAGINAL progesterone pa din ang recommended.

Of course, CERCLAGE is recommended and always beneficial for these patients.
