Cabanatuan Day is also my birthday—akalain mo yun!

Pero alam niyo ba? Nung bata ako, naiinis ako kasi kasabay ng birthday ko ang Araw ng Cabanatuan. Wala tuloy kaming pasok, at hindi ako makakantahan ng "Happy Birthday" ng mga classmate ko. Hehehe, yun lang ang gusto ko—makantahan ng "Happy Birthday" ng mga kaklase ko. Ang babaw, noh? Pero ngayon, nais kong kunin ang pagkakataong ito para
pasalamatanan ang ating maganda at mahal na Lungsod ng Cabanatuan. I am proud to be a Cabanatueño, mula sa ating sikat na bawang longganisa, matamis na batutay, at ang all season favorite bibingka at p**o bubong sa Plaza Luzero. Iba talaga ang lasa ng bibingka kapag galing sa galapong hano? The best din ang pinapaitan na may dahon ng alibangbang at guya sa Freedom Park.

Pinagmamalaki ko rin ang ating malalim na Tagalog. Parang tayo lang ang nagkakaintindihan kapag narinig ang “mag-urong, kinulte at anggi”. Kapag may nagsalita ng “eka”—automatic, mapapalingon kasi sigurado taga Cabanatuan yun.

Miss ko rin ang ating mga pasyalan sa Burgos Street. Nung bata ako , wala pang mga mall at Burgos Street ang aming fashion street. Diyan kami pumupunta kapag bibili ng damit, at mga pang-regalo. May Elegant pa ba? Binibilhan din ako ng nanay ko ng damit sa Stateside at sa Melanios na maliit sa may Syquio, tapos bibili yung nanay ko ng pan sa Shing Fong na iuuwi namin. Masarap din doon yung tinapay na korteng sampalok at yung bilog na may sesame seeds. Yung Fiesta ng P**o ng Aduas, inaabangan namin yun— madalas nakiki-fiesta kami dyan sa kaklase ko nung high school.

Kayo, ano ang paborito niyong kultura, pagkain, o kahit ano basta't unique sa ating mga taga Cabanatuan? Ang mag-comment ay may regalo sa akin.
