WUP-Hospital’s Family and Community Medicine Achieves Reaccreditation from the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians

Saturday, August 10, 2024—Wesleyan University Philippines-Hospital's Family and Community Medicine Department proudly announces its successful reaccreditation by the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP). This achievement, led by accreditors Dr. Queenie Dacayo Iyon and Dr. Marlene Recon Checa marks a significant milestone in the department's commitment to providing high-quality healthcare.

The PAFP is the largest medical specialty organization under the Philippine Medical Association composed of over 6,500 Family Medicine specialists. These professionals are dedicated to delivering holistic, accessible, continuous, comprehensive, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective healthcare. The reaccreditation underscores WUP-Hospital’s adherence to these high standards and its unwavering dedication to community health.

WUP-H’s Family and Community Medicine department chaired by Dr. Rommel Irabagon and supported by Training Officer Dr. Liway Arimbuyutan has been a beacon of excellence since its inauguration in August 2023. The team of residents, including Dr. Lirio Francisco, Dr. Napoleon Interior and Dr. James Yanga, have played an integral role in navigating the challenges of the past year, contributing to the department's success.

The reaccreditation process was spearheaded by WUP-Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Laurence H. De Guzman, with strong support from the then Hospital Administrator, John Caezar L. Sabas. Their leadership and dedication have been instrumental in achieving this milestone, further solidifying WUP-Hospital’s reputation as a leader in family and community medicine.

The successful reaccreditation is not only a evidence to the department's hard work and resilience but also a reflection of its ongoing commitment to serving the community with the highest standards of care. As the department continues to grow and evolve, WUP-Hospital remains steadfast in its mission to provide comprehensive and compassionate healthcare to every patient.

WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY-PHILIPPINES HOSPITAL RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION FOR EXCELLENCE IN NEWBORN SCREENING

In a commendable acknowledgment of its unwavering commitment to improving the health of Filipino children, Wesleyan University Philippines Hospital has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition for its active role in the timely collection of quality newborn screening samples for the year 2023. This prestigious recognition underscores WUP-Hospital's vital contribution to the government's efforts to safeguard the health and future of the nation’s youngest citizens.
