While the Philippines only technically have rainy and dry seasons, we often refer to these warm weather streaks as “summer” which lasts until May.

Even though everyone is affected when temperatures soar, those with preexisting heart conditions are even more at risk of heart-related illness and hospitalization.

During these times, it’s important to protect yourself from the heat. 🥵

🪭 Here are some tips to keep cool:
1. Monitor the weather forecast for heat advisories and stay inside on those days.
2. When outside, drink 8 ounces of water every 20 minutes. Set a timer to remind you.
3. Limit alcohol intake and carbonated drinks (some studies have shown they increase the risk of heat stroke)
4. Apply sunscreen with SPF30 or higher because sunburns affect your body's ability to cool down and increase dehydration.
