Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC) proudly took part in this year’s Mr. and Ms. Hospital Week, one of the most awaited events of the Bicol Regional Hospital Week Celebration.

Representing our institution were 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗰 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗖. 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝘂ñ𝗮 from the Nursing Service Special Care Areas and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 from the Nursing Service Clinical Nursing Units. Both representatives showcased their poise, confidence and stage presence, proving that BRGHGMC is home to well-rounded and talented individuals.

Mr. 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗰 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗖. 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝘂ñ𝗮 earned recognition in his performance, receiving the following awards:

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗗𝗿. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮-𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝗴𝗮

In celebration of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month this August, Dr. Laurice Ann A. Intia-Tolentino, Pediatrician of the Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC), in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (an MSGC member), was featured in a special interview on Radyo Pilipinas Naga yesterday, August 6, 2025.

Dr. Intia-Tolentino shared valuable insights on the importance of breastfeeding, not only for the health and development of infants but also for the well-being of breastfeeding mothers. She emphasized that breastfeeding provides essential nutrients and strengthens the immune system of babies, while also helping mothers recover faster and build emotional bonds with their children.

During the interview, Dr. Intia-Tolentino gave helpful tips and advice for breastfeeding mothers, especially those experiencing it for the first time. She answered common questions about how to breastfeed properly and shared simple ways to increase breastmilk supply. She also discussed common breastfeeding challenges and suggested practical solutions. For working mothers, she explained how to properly store expressed breastmilk to keep it safe and clean for later use.

Dr. Intia-Tolentino also highlighted the crucial role of emotional and practical support from family members, healthcare providers, and the community in helping mothers succeed in their breastfeeding journey.

This initiative supports ongoing efforts to raise awareness and promote breastfeeding as an essential part of both child and maternal health.

The Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC), in partnership with the Multi-Sector Governance Council and through the efforts of the Philippine Information Agency, proudly made its first radio appearance on Radyo Pilipinas Naga last July 25, 2025.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in the hospital’s commitment to bringing health information closer to the public and promoting awareness of its services and programs.

During Ugnayan sa PIA Camarines Sur program, BRGHGMC representatives shared essential insights. Dr. Juri Khrisna S. Faulan presented the hospital’s general profile, detailing its key services and milestones, while Ms. Mariel Echano provided essential information on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. This radio engagement aims to strengthen public trust, enhance health education, and foster closer ties between the hospital and the communities it serves.

Lively and cheerful energy filled the streets of Sorsogon City on August 4, 2025, as 16 healthcare institutions from across the region came together for a vibrant parade, officially launching the Bicol Regional Hospital Week Celebration. Proudly representing the spirit of service and unity, the Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC) was among the participating facilities.

With this year’s theme, “On Call, On Courts, Onwards!”, the opening day began with the colorful parade and continued at the Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium for the opening program, marking the start of a week-long celebration dedicated to camaraderie, excellence, and regional solidarity in healthcare.

The energy was carried in Day 2 with the kickoff of various ball games and sports competitions, held across different sports venues in the city. BRGHGMC delegates actively participated in the events, proudly demonstrating athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The back-to-back highlights of the first two days set the tone for a week filled with unity, passion, and pride for Bicol’s dedicated healthcare professionals.

The assessment aimed to identify gaps and enhance healthcare services for senior citizens in the community. 💙

Together, we're working towards stronger coordination, better follow-up, and safer transitions from hospital to home for our elderly patients. 💊📋✅
