Happy 97th Birthday to our Rose of Humanity, Governor Rosa Rosal! 🥳🎉
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) proudly honors and celebrates the 97th birthday of Governor Rosa Rosal, one of the most enduring symbols of compassion, selflessness, and humanitarian service in the Philippines.
A member of the PRC Board of Governors and one of its most dedicated pioneers, Gov. Rosal began her journey with the Red Cross in 1950, just three years after the organization’s founding in 1947.
Beyond her acclaimed career as an award-winning actress and public service television host, Gov. Rosal used her platform to amplify humanitarian causes and inspire a culture of volunteerism. She was instrumental in institutionalizing PRC’s mobile bloodletting program, helping make blood donation a national advocacy. Her leadership extended to strengthening PRC’s welfare programs, particularly in assisting overseas Filipino workers in distress and providing support and care for children through Red Cross welfare services — a true embodiment of compassion in action.
Her decades of service have been recognized globally. In 1999, she was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service — the Asian equivalent of the Nobel Prize — for her “lifetime of unstinting voluntary service, inspiring Filipinos to put the needs of others before their own.”
Happy Birthday, Gov. Rosa Rosal! Your Red Cross family celebrates you — our timeless Rose of Humanity. ❤️🤍
