Update: Lexis needs a Revision Amputation ๐
Lexis has been doing well since his surgeries roughly 2 years ago. He goes to school and plays with friends. He likes waiting for classes in Mommy and Daddyโs office, and loves riding in vehicles, roaming around and taking in new sights with awe and wonder. However, Lexisโ bones continue to grow and his amputated site has developed sharp edges or bone spikes, which when hit can cause him pain, and which may also be why he dislikes wearing prosthetics.
Since Lexis was amputated at a very young age, he may require surgery every few years. An epiphysiodesis surgery may be done to slow the growth of his lower legs in order for him to have less surgeries. Still, we prefer preserving his natural growth as much as possible. He will need his first revision surgery this year.
We thank all who have helped our son get to where he is today, and we continue to ask for your prayers for his well being. We are so blessed that despite everything that happened, through the support of everyone, we are able to see Lexis smile, laugh, and enjoy life, and to pour our love for him as much as we can. Praise God! ๐คฒ
As another trial looms ahead, we pray that Lexis be blessed with the support system and environment he needs, and that he continues to overcome the difficulties ahead. We ask for wisdom and guidance from the Lord that as parents, we may always be able to decide on whatโs best for our kids.
Blessed Sunday to all! ๐
