AMDG! 🙏 2/3 positive pregnancies for the month!!! Clinical pregnancy rates after IVF treatment are approximately 30–70%. Some of the factors that affect the success of IVF include age, body mass index (BMI), uterine and ovarian factors, the type of stimulation protocol used, the stimulation dose,the use of fresh or frozen protocols and of course the efficiency of the IVF laboratory! Here’s to celebrating more IVF success stories 🎉🎉🎉

Congratulations to our patient on their successful IVF journey! This was a very challenging case indeed! As we were preparing our patient for embryo transfer or implantation, her endometrium just wouldn’t respond to both conventional protocols a and adjuncts😞 meaning that her endometrial lining did not reach an acceptable thickness of at least 7-8 mm for implantation. And why is the endometrium important? It is because in order for the embryo to implant, the endometrium must be both receptive to embryo at the time of transfer and rich in healthy bacteria. With the help of Igenomix technology called endomeTRIO test composed of the ERA (endometrial receptivity analysis), EMMA (endometrial microbiome metagenomic analysis) and ALICE (Analysis of Infectious Chronic Endometritis) we are able to perform a personalised embryo transfer which resulted to this successful pregnancy ❤️ Thanks also to Repro Optima IVF lab for making this test available in our country and for always being innovative in the field of IVF!

Long post ahead.

Meet our Miracle Baby!

A very special gift from the Almighty in the most miraculous way! The couple underwent IVF treatment before the imminent possibility of loosing the wife’s uterus. We transferred 2 embryos and both successfully implanted but at around 10 weeks of pregnancy, one embryo lost its heartbeat 😭 With so much hope and prayers the pregnancy was carried on with utmost monitoring giving the patient all that she needed to somehow ensure that the remaining embryo will survive. But at around 25-26 weeks of pregnancy, the bag of water ruptured!!! And after a few days of medical treatment, the umbilical cord prolapse spontaneously 🤯 We performed an emergency cesarean section just like residency training days with all stress and emotions involved whenever we have cord prolapse (only obstetricians will understand) 😢
And now here she is, after a month of being admitted in the neonatal ICU, our miracle baby finally went home❤️😭 Thank you to my colleagues who helped me and my patient in this journey. Special mention to my mentor and friend, Dr. Marivic Tan who from the start guided me with the couple’s fertility treatment.

Truly, science and faith in the Almighty will help us through the hard times 🙏

Grateful to be part of this clinician course in Assisted Reproductive Technology ☺️ Learning new perspectives, reinforcing what is already known and the realization that there’s still more come in the field of IVF which can potentially help our patients was just pure JOY!!!
