Good vision is essential for children to reach their full academic potential. About 82% of what children learn in school is presented visually, and vision problems can have a profound impact on children's learning.

According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), a comprehensive eye exam should start as early as 6 months of age. Good and healthy vision is important in a child's eyes so they can develop visual acuity at distance and near, proper eye teaming, and correct eye movements and tracking skills.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗔𝗭𝗬 𝗘𝗬𝗘?

"Lazy Eye" is the everyday name for amblyopia. It is a vision condition in which one eye doesn't develop normal vision, even though the eye itself may look perfectly healthy. The brain 🧠 starts favoring the stronger eye and gradually ignores signals from the weaker one, which can become "lazy," not because it won't work, but because the brain stops using it properly.

🔘 Smoking damages blood vessels, reduces oxygen, and increases oxidative stress. The eyes, especially the retina, are extremely sensitive to all three.

Vision screenings are nothing more than a visual acuity test where you're asked to identify the smallest letters you can on a vision chart across the room often performed by volunteers who ARE NOT eye care professionals. While an 𝗘𝗬𝗘 𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗠, 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗲𝘆𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 (Optometrist or Ophthalmologist) and evaluate 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 your visual acuity, but also the 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.
