Cagayan de Oro City โ The National Nutrition Council Region X officially concluded the 2025 Nutrition Month celebration with a renewed call to action to continue strengthening the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028 and address the food and nutrition challenges in Northern Mindanao.
With this yearโs theme, โSa PPAN Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat,โ with the sub-theme โFood at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!โ The month-long campaign united local government units, government agencies, civil society organizations, schools, and the private sector in advancing food and nutrition security through coordinated efforts.
NNC Region X extends its sincerest gratitude to the members of the Regional Nutrition Committee, Scaling Up Nutrition Northern Mindanao Networks, Media Advocates for Nutrition in Governance for Region 10 (MANGO DIEZ), all Provincial, City and Municipal LGUs, nutrition advocates, and other partner organizations who contributed to the success of this yearโs Nutrition Month campaign.
Northern Mindanao continues to face pressing nutrition issues, such as wasting and stunting among children, rising overweight cases, and the triple burden of malnutrition. These problems underscore the need to urgently scale up nutrition interventions under the PPAN to ensure that no one is left behind.
As the July Nutrition Month comes to an end, NNC Region X reminds everyone that the mission does not stop here. The fight against malnutrition continues beyond July. Calling all sectors to sustain and fully integrate nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive initiatives for food and nutrition security into local development plans.
Strengthening food and nutrition security initiatives aligned with the goals of the PPAN 2023-2028 through collective actions, we can make nutritious, safe, and affordable food accessible to every Filipino household reinforcing that food and nutrition security is not just a goal, but a fundamental to human dignity, health, and national development.
Decision-makers, policymakers, and program managers are encouraged to continuously foster enabling environments that prioritize strategic planning and sustained investments in agriculture, local food production, and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
Nutrition Program Coordinator and OIC Reginaldo T. Guillen of NNC Region X urges all stakeholders to invest in sustainable programs and initiatives that promote food and nutrition security in Region 10, working together to ensure that every family has access to safe, nutritious, and adequate food. This is also in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s message in his 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) to continue and protect the health, nutrition, and well-being of Filipinos.
Nutrition is a shared responsibility, and with collective action, we can create change and build a nourished and resilient Northern Mindanao.
Happy Nutrition Month, mga Ka-Nutrisyon!
