A D V I S O R Y

As part of our precautionary measure to contain the transmission of Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) cases in the city, the City Health Office (CHO) of Cagayan de Oro has implemented the following strict measures in earnest, viz:

 Concerned areas affected are required to use purified water in the meantime for all kitchen chores.
 Serving ice-related foodstuffs are momentarily suspended for the concerned areas.
 Food preparation are under strict sanitation and hygiene protocols.
 Comprehensive flushing, disinfection and sanitation processes for the cistern/water reservoir in these areas of concern are undertaken.
 Simultaneous Water testing with COWD in the surrounding areas as well as areas in the community are underway.
 Provision of Fast Lanes for AGE cases at JR Borja Gen. Hospital.
 Barangay Health Centers are equipped in handling Mild AGE.

In the meantime, the City Health Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit is continuously monitoring the situation as well as gathering data and thoroughly investigating the sudden surge of those AGE cases to preempt any recurrence of such incident. With these coordinated and comprehensive mitigating measures, the CHO together with the LGU of Cagayan de Oro, the Department of Health, the Cagayan de Oro Water District and other partner stakeholders are confident that with the active support of the community, the aforesaid medical emergency will be abated. The CHO hereby assures the public that Cagayan de Oro City health facilities are handling the situation seriously and diligently.

Ang CHO aktibong misalmot sa "Pasidungog alang sa mga Labing Maayong Empleyado" nga gimugna sa HRMO-CDO, isip paagi sa pag-ila sa mga kawani nga nagpakita og kadasig ug dedikasyon sa ilang serbisyo.

Pipila ka mga dedikado ug masaligan nga empleyado sa CHO ang na-nomina isip “Employee of the Week”, tungod sa ilang kahanas, matinud-anong serbisyo, ug aktibong pag-apil sa mga kalihokan sa buhatan.

Sa kasamtangan, hingusganon namong gisugyot sa publiko nga sundon ang mosunud nga mga pamaagi sa pag amping:

◘ Pag-inom sa luwas nga tubig. Kung gikan sa gripo pabukalan sulod sa 2-3 minutos, O pag inum sa bottled water.

◘ Batasanon ang husto nga paghugas sa kamot gamit ang sabon ug limpyo nga tubig, labi na sa dili pa mokaon ug kung human sa paggamit sa kasilyas.

◘ Lutoon pag ayo ang pag kaon. Takluban kung dili pa kan-on.

◘ Kung ikaw o imung sakop sa panimalay nakasinati og diarrhea o kalibanga, pagsuka, sakit sa tiyan, o hilanat adto dayun sa labing duol nga Health Center sa inyong Barangay.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The City Health Office (CHO) in Cagayan de Oro activated its Incident Command System (ICS) on Monday, September 22, because of a rise in cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE).

Dr. Rachel Daba-Dilla, the CHO department manager, said that the CHO's Incident Management Team has been tasked with investigating the situation and implementing measures to prevent more cases.

As part of the response, the CHO’s epidemiology division began interviewing patients who were admitted to the hospital. Additionally, Barangay Health Workers (BHW) were instructed to conduct active case findings to identify people in the community showing signs of diarrhea and prevent further spread of the illness.

NAGPAGULA og public health advisory ang health education and promotion unit sa City Health Office aron malikay nga matakboyan sa sakit nga acute gastroenteritis samtang kamulo pa ang gihimong imbestigasyon ug active surveillance sa buhatan kalabot sa posibleng tinubdan niini.

Partikular nga giaghat sa CHO ang publiko nga mag-obserbar sa mosunod nga precautionary measures:

• Pag-inom sa limpyo ug luwas nga tubig mainom (gipabukal, gitambalan o’ kaha binotelya kon bottled)
• Pagtuman og proper hand washing kon paghugas sa kamot gamit ang sabon ug limpyo nga tubig, ilabina sa dili pa mokaon ug human paggamit sa banyo.
• Siguroha nga ang tanang pagkaon maayo ang pagkaluto ug gihipos sa ensakto.
• Pagpakonsulta gilayon sa pinakaduol nga health facility kung ikaw o’ miyembro sa imong pamilya ang makasinati sa diarrhea, pagsuka-suka, abdominal pain ug hilanat.

Public Health Advisory:

September 23, 2025

The City Health Office is currently verifying the reported cases on Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) cases within the community. Furthermore, our office is gathering data and conducting an investigation and active surveillance to determine the possible source of this rise.

In the meantime, we strongly advise the public to observe the following precautionary measures:

 Consume only safe drinking water (boiled, treated. or bottled).
 Practice proper hand washing with soap and clean water, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
 Ensure that all foods is thoroughly cooked and properly stored.
 Seek immediate medical consultation at the nearest health facility if you or your family members experience diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or fever.

The City Health Office remains committed to safeguarding public health and will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
