FHAHP Class done at Villa Verde, Balulang

Last September 29-30, the BHWs of Lower Balulang Health Center eagerly conducted another batch of Family Health Advocacy Home Partners (FHAHP) Classes. Around 30 participants were able to attend the 2-day classes and listen to lectures about different health topics such as infectious diseases, noncommunicable diseases, immunization, nutrition topics, basic life support and many more!

These classes were conducted in coordination with our City Health Office - Health Education and Promotion Unit (HEPU) represented by Mr. Giovanni Dael. Moreover, our barangay council headed by PB Edwin E. Micabani sponsored the tokens received by those attendees who completed the lectures.

We hope to multiply these health advocates around Balulang!

"HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (HFMD)"

The City Health Office of Cagayan de Oro is currently monitoring an increase in reported cases of rashes among school-age, children, which may be associated with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HMFD)

We are urge parents, teachers, and caregivers to be vigilant and immediately seek medical consultation if children exhibit the following symptoms:

* FEVER
* RASHERS ON THE HANDS, FEET OR MOUTH
* MOUTH SORES
* SORE THROAT

To help prevent the spread of infection, we strongly advise:

* REGULAR HAND WASHING WITH SOAP AND WATER
* MAINTAINING PROPER HYGIENE AT HOME AND IN SCHOOLS
* AVOIDING CLOSE CONTACT WITH CHILDREN WHO ARE SICK

We appreciate the schools which conduct on line classes when clusters of cases are observed in order to prevent contaminations among students.

The City Health Office will continue to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. Your cooperation is vital in safeguarding the health of our children and the community.

Public Health Advisory:

September 23, 2025

The City Health Office is currently verifying the reported cases on Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) cases within the community. Furthermore, our office is gathering data and conducting an investigation and active surveillance to determine the possible source of this rise.

In the meantime, we strongly advise the public to observe the following precautionary measures:

 Consume only safe drinking water (boiled, treated. or bottled).
 Practice proper hand washing with soap and clean water, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
 Ensure that all foods is thoroughly cooked and properly stored.
 Seek immediate medical consultation at the nearest health facility if you or your family members experience diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or fever.

The City Health Office remains committed to safeguarding public health and will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

DEVELOPING STORY: Alleged Water Contamination in Cagayan de Oro

City Health Officer Dr. Rachel Daba Dilla has released an update regarding the alleged water contamination that has raised public concern following an increase in reported cases of vomiting and diarrhea.

According to Dr. Dilla, the City Health Office has already collected water samples from various establishments and standpipes across the city. These samples have been submitted to the Department of Health – Northern Mindanao (DOH-X) laboratory and are currently under examination.

“We are still waiting for the official results of the laboratory tests,” Dr. Dilla said, adding that the public will be informed immediately once findings are released.

The City Health Office continues to urge residents of Cagayan de Oro to remain cautious and to observe proper food and water safety practices while the investigation is ongoing. (Text by A.CIO/Infographics by Nathan Galleros)

👶🏻 Breast-milk is the ideal first food for a baby. It's safe, clean and contains antibodies which protect against dangerous illnesses.

✅ Start breastfeeding within 1 hour after birth
✅ Breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months
✅ Continue breastfeeding alongside healthy family foods until the baby is at least 2 years old

We will be having a FREE Chest Xray Caravan this JULY 25, 2025 8AM at Balulang Covered Court, Villa Angela, Balulang.

Priority clients are the following:
1. Relatives/Family members of confirmed TB patients
2. Senior citizens
3. PWD clients
4. Clients with symptoms of TB (like cough, fever, weight loss, night sweats, fatigue, chest and back pain, body weakness, etc.)

If you experience these symptoms, please don't hesitate to avail this service coming to you free of charge!
