JRBGH joins 3rd Solidarity Walk for Su***de Prevention Awareness Month

As part of its continuing advocacy to promote mental health and well-being, the J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), with the House of Hope, Employee Health and Wellness Clinic, and Human Resource Management Office, actively participated in the “Baktas sa Panaghiusa: Alang sa Kinabuhi” — the 3rd Solidarity Walk for Su***de Prevention Awareness Month held this morning.

The walk symbolized a unified stand against the stigma surrounding mental health and highlighted the importance of compassion, awareness, and community support in su***de prevention.

Through this initiative, JRBGH reaffirms its commitment to fostering a workplace and community that values life, encourages open conversations on mental health, and promotes hope for those who may be struggling.

JRBGH promotes workplace safety through OSH Orientation for New Hires.

As part of its commitment to employee welfare and workplace safety, the Employee’s Health and Wellness Clinic successfully conducted an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Orientation for newly hired staff. This session forms a vital part of the hospital’s onboarding program, ensuring new employees start with a strong foundation in safety standards and health protocols.

The orientation covered:

1. Fundamental OSH principles and legal mandates, including RA 11058 (OSH Law)

2. Identification and prevention of healthcare-related workplace hazards

3. Emergency preparedness, response procedures, and incident reporting

4. The vital role of each employee in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment

The session reinforced the Hospital's advocacy for a safety-first mindset and concluded with a shared commitment to uphold safety practices in daily duties — ensuring a safer hospital for both staff and patients.

“It’s Not Candy—It’s a Killer”: JRBGH Respi Unit Pushes for a Smoke-Free Future

In collaboration with the Employee's Health and Wellness and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committees, the Respiratory Unit of J.R. Borja General Hospital took a firm stand against smoking and va**ng through its Anti-Smoking & Anti-Vaping Campaign, held on August 5, 2025, at the 3rd Floor Conference Room with the theme: “Clear Lungs, Clear Future.”

Smoking and va**ng remain two of the most deceptive threats to public health. What is often masked as a coping mechanism or trend has become a silent epidemic, gradually destroying lungs, hearts, and lives.

Neither smoke nor v**e is safe.

The campaign confronts this reality with a sharp reminder:
“Dili candy, pero tam-is ang imong kamatayon.”
(It’s not candy—but it’s a sweet death.)

This powerful phrase cuts through the sugarcoated image of ni****ne use, forcing us to ask: At what cost do we continue to inhale?

This campaign is more than just raising awareness—it’s a wake-up call. It’s time we stop normalizing what is slowly killing us. The choice is still ours—but so are the consequences.
