A Heart for Service

The Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital Departments of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Surgery came together at Camaman-an Elementary School last August 16, 2025 with one mission in mind: to serve the community.

Through teamwork, compassion, and dedication, we were able to extend quality healthcare to those who need it most. This successful medical mission is proof that when we work hand in hand, we can make a lasting difference.

Grateful to every department, volunteer, and partner who made this possible. Here’s to more initiatives that bring hope and healing to our communities!

Heart of Champions!

The Maria Reyna - Xavier University Hospital Department of Internal Medicine brought home the gold at the first-ever Cardiolympics during the G.O.L.D. Enhancing Synergy in Cardiovascular Care Conference held at Limketkai Luxe Hotel last July 26, 2025 hosted by the Philippine Heart Association Northwestern Mindanao Chapter.

Hearty congratulations to Dr Leah Galindez-Orjalesa and Dr Wendysyl Mabale for this amazing feat and for representing the department.

Making Waves Globally!

The department wholeheartedly congratulates our senior resident, Dr Diana Mae Naldoza, for presenting her case report entitled “Double Jeopardy: An 81-year-old Diabetic Woman with Emphysematous Pyelonephritis” at the 2025 Korean Society of Nephrology convention held at Seoul, South Korea last June 19-22, 2025. She was accompanied by her co-author, our very own Dr Karen Dacudao (Nephrologist).

Roots of Hope!

Our tree planting activity was a huge success, sowing seeds for a greener future. This is a Community Medicine activity of the IM Department which is in line with Program Outcome #8 of the P*P OBE CBTP which is NATIONALISM, SOCIAL ADVOCACY, EQUITY, and ACCOUNTABILITY.

This event was made possible through the efforts of our Community Medicine Coordinator, Dr Geraldine Pon, and our Community Medicine Senior Resident-in-Charge, Dr Alyanna Arengo, of the Internal Medicine Department.

Together let us plant a tree, grow a tree and help protect our environment. Thanks to everyone who joined in and helped make a difference!

Insightful Discussions, Better Care!

Our first year resident, Dr Mia Lomongo-Mangahas, presented her Case Management on Torsades de Pointes in a Postpartum Patient. It was an interdepartmental conference between the Internal Medicine and OB-GYN departments and was attended by consultants and residents of said departments. It was an informative and engaging experience, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

We heartily thank our resource speakers, Dr Debra Urbina (IM Cardiology), Dr Macrine Amato (Neurology), and Dr Dayres Relliquete (OB-GYN Perinatologist), for their invaluable insights into this case.

Connecting Beyond the Wards!

The Maria Reyna - Xavier University Internal Medicine consultants came together at C Lounge Resto Conrad Hotel for a fun-filled social gathering, strengthening bonds and reminiscing memories of residency training days.

In attendance were MRXUH Medical Director Dr Manuel Sison as well as Dr Antonietta Sison, IM Department Chair Dr Carmelita Llavore, IM Department Training Officer Dr Erwin Dayupay, the Training Core consultants, as well as the alumni of the training program.

Department Milestone!

We are once again proud to share that the Maria Reyna - Xavier University Hospital Department of Internal Medicine has been granted a 5-YEAR ACCREDITATION STATUS by the Philippine College of Physicians and was awarded the plaque on May 4, 2025 during the 55th P*P Annual Convention.

This remarkable achievement reflects the department's dedication to uphold its mission and vision and serves as an inspiration for its residents and graduates to continue to strive for excellence!

In line with the department celebrating the achievements of its graduates, we proudly present the following Maria Reyna - Xavier University Internal Medicine Alumnae for passing their respective specialty board examinations.

Dr Asimah Mangondaya passed the Specialty Board of Adult Cardiology in 2023. She just finished her training in Interventional Cardiology last April 30, 2025.

Dr Naiha Rangiris passed the Specialty Board of Adult Cardiology in 2023. She served as one of the Chief Residents during her senior year and is currently taking Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Dr Claudine Marie Merced passed the Diplomate Exam of the Philippine College of Geriatric Medicine last 2023. She is currently practicing in Quezon City.

The Maria Reyna - Xavier University Hospital Department of Internal Medicine proudly congratulates Dr. Felisse Julien F. Jegonia for passing the 2025 Specialty Board of Adult Cardiology Written and Practical Examinations held last April 27, 2025.

Dr. Jegonia is an alumna of the MRXUH IM Department and served as one of the Chief Residents during her senior year.
