Congratulations to the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital Department of Dermatology for organizing ADARNA (Aesthetic and Restorative Dermatology Course). It was a day of high yield lectures and facial anatomy review.

Aesthetics is definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach. It requires a deeper understanding of facial anatomy which is crucial for providing our patients with safe and effective treatments.

Summer time= outdoor sports, kids' swimming lessons and sun exposure even if you're not swimming. Remember to wear your sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours! My kids already know they need to apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before swimming for better absorption.

Yes I am still wearing broad spectrum sunscreen as UV rays are still reflected off surfaces and enter areas under the shade. I don't have a hat so I'm using a pool towel for added sun protection 😉 Also enjoyed the complimentary refreshing melon juice! 😉

Celebrating World Dermoscopy Day 2025.
Medicine is ever evolving so dermatologists have to update ourselves with knowledge of diagnostic tools to improve health outcomes. We want to focus on early disease detection for our patients.

Last year's series of lectures was attended by dermatologists from over 100+ countries. Thank you to the International Dermoscopy Society for organizing this successful program.

Attending online CMEs such as this continuing laser education allow dermatologists to learn anywhere around the world and keeping us informed of the latest information. Kudos to the Philippine Dermatological Society Laser Surgery Subspecialty Group for making this accessible. Fortunately, I am able to attend this high yield learning session despite the 12 hour time zone difference here in the US.

A board certified dermatologist can make the proper recommendations what laser treatments will work best for your particular skin care concerns. Talk to your dermatologist about it.

Do I need to wear sunscreen on a cloudy day? ABSOLUTELY YES!
Harmful UV rays can still pe*****te through clouds and reflect through the grass, soil, water and even concrete.

Summer is almost over but it doesn't mean we can skip the sunscreen. Sure the weather feels much cooler now but UV rays can still do a lot of skin damage.

Aside from photoaging, we want to prevent skin cancer by wearing broad spectrum sunscreen everyday and reapplying every 2 hours.

I still wear my wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and UPF50 long sleeved shirts for my morning walk as no sunscreen can effectively block 100% of harmful UV rays.

Bottomline: Never leave home without applying your sunscreen even on cloudy days.

When I started Teledermatology/online consultations 3 years ago, who would have known that this would be the "new normal"?
It has been a privilege treating the patients in Cagayan de Oro City and Northern Mindanao for the past 10 years. I also learned many valuable life lessons along the way.
Thank you for entrusting me with your skin, hair and nail concerns, health and well-being.
To my patients, thank you for sharing your progress and life updates with me. It was a pleasure serving you.
For now, we will only be accomodating follow up patients as we will be going through a transition period. Rest assured we will be referring you to our other colleagues/PDS board certified dermatologists for continuity of care. Stay safe!
