he Seminar-Workshop for Persons Deprived of Liberty Peer Counselors at the Cagayan de Oro City JailMale Dormitory successfully concluded its second day and closing program, highlighting the commitment and active participation of all attendees. Spearheaded by 𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗡 𝗝 𝗬𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔, 𝗗𝗦𝗖,, the activity aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of PDL in peer counseling and emotional supportkey components in promoting mental wellness, empathy, and personal growth inside the facility.

The closing program served as a recognition of the participants’ dedication and achievements throughout the training, celebrating their transformation into empowered peer counselors ready to extend guidance and understanding to their fellow PDL.

This initiative reflects CDOCJ-MD continuous pursuit of holistic reformation nurturing not only discipline but also emotional resilience and compassion as vital tools for positive change.

Under the leadership of 𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗡 𝗝 𝗬𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔, 𝗗𝗦𝗖, the Cagayan de Oro City Jail Male Dormitory successfully conducted a Two-Day Seminar Workshop for Persons Deprived of Liberty Peer Counselors, an initiative designed to raise awareness on mental health and equip selected PDL with the knowledge and skills to become effective Peer Counselors within the facility.

The seminar featured insightful discussions led by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗥. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗻, Mental Health Program Coordinator of the DepEd Division of Cagayan de Oro, who served as the Keynote Speaker, together with𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗦 𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗛 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗔, Regional Chaplain, who shared spiritual guidance and encouragement to the participants.

Day 1 focused on understanding the importance of mental health awareness, empathy, and active listening as key tools in supporting fellow PDL. Interactive sessions and group activities encouraged participants to share experiences, reflect on personal growth, and build stronger bonds founded on compassion and mutual respect.

This initiative underscores the BJMP's continuous commitment to holistic rehabilitation and mental wellness empowering PDL to become instruments of hope, healing, and positive change within the jail community.

Under the leadership of 𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗡 𝗝 𝗬𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔, 𝗗𝗦𝗖, the Cagayan de Oro City Jail Male Dormitory conducted a Tsunami and Earthquake Awareness Seminar aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness among personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty.

The activity highlights that safety and readiness are essential for everyone even behind bars ensuring that all are equipped with knowledge to respond effectively in times of natural calamities.

Under the leadership of 𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗡 𝗝 𝗬𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔, 𝗗𝗦𝗖, the Cagayan de Oro City Jail Male Dormitory once again began the week with purpose and pride through its Monday Flag Raising Ceremony.

This morning’s event highlighted the values of hope, compassion, and transformation, as 𝗦𝗝𝗢𝟮 𝗭𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗖 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, Speaker of the Day, shared an inspiring reflection titled “The Window with No View.”

She told the story of a prisoner who, after years of despair, found meaning in a small plant growing through a crack in his wall. The wall never changed but his perspective did. Through this simple story, SJO2 Carson reminded everyone that true freedom begins in the mind, and that while we may not always change our surroundings, we can always choose how we see them.

Her message served as a beautiful reminder of the vital role jail officers play not only as custodians of discipline but as guides of hope and change, helping Persons Deprived of Liberty find light even in the smallest cracks of life.

In line with the KKDK (Katatagan, Kalusugan, at Damayan ng Komunidad) Program, the Cagayan de Oro City Jail–Male Dormitory conducted Family Modules 1–6.

The activity focused on strengthening family bonds, improving communication, and fostering understanding between Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and their families — promoting unity and recovery within the home.

Facilitated by KKDK Program facilitators and supported by 𝗦𝗝𝗢𝟰 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗦 𝗬𝗯𝗮ñ𝗲𝘇, Chief, Welfare and Development Section, the activity was held under the guidance and leadership of 𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗡 𝗝 𝗬𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔, 𝗗𝗦𝗖, City Jail Warden.
