Two lives, one minimally invasive solution 🤍

At 14 weeks pregnant, this mom safely underwent laparoscopy to remove a 6-cm symptomatic dermoid cyst—with tiny incisions, faster recovery, and careful protection of both mother and baby.

Minimally Invasive and Advanced Gynecologic Surgery (MIAGS) Team:
OB/Surgeon: Dr Jane Ellise Javier, MD
Assist: Dr Isabela Alexa Martinez
Anesthesiologist: Dr Marilet Caluag
Ortigas Hospital and Healthcare Center

✨ Why laparoscopy?
✔️ Less pain, smaller scars
✔️ Faster return to daily life
✔️ Lower risk of complications
✔️ Proven safe in pregnancy when done by trained hands

📚 Evidence-based medical journals consistently show that laparoscopy during pregnancy—especially in the 2nd trimester—is a safe and effective option for managing ovarian cysts when surgery is needed.

Being pregnant doesn’t mean settling for bigger cuts or longer healing.
Gentle surgery. Better outcomes.

💬 Have an ovarian cyst and thinking about your options?

MOTN Pumping after a long day of work in the hospital today. 🐮

Today's milk is brought to you by from my patient-care 🥰😊 Thank you for personally delivering it to my clinic André, my super pretty patient Alena and baby Aldré 🩷

Being a new mom made me empathize more with my patients and fellow mommas. Dati nasheshare ko lang sa kanila yung knowledge based on books, trainings, and 3rd person POV that I see from patients. But now, medyo affected ako sa mga nararamdaman at pinagdadaanan nila during pregnancy and even after birth. Definitely one of the hardest role I played, if not the most, since residency!

This time, I can share my knowledge based on my personal experience, too. Sobrang personal goal ko na ata to give my patients a comfortable pregnany journey -- to ease the anxiety, the pain, and the discomfort that pregnancy, labor and delivery brings. 🥹

But a heartfelt thank you also to my patients who appreciate what we do. ❤️

Extending OR duties lately due to emergency surgeries but, hey, we don't complain. 😊

Most mothers would agree that they lose their identity due to the profound shift in priorities and daily life that motherhood brings. I'm just happy that outside motherhood -- the 24/7 baby barnacle, responsibilities, late night breastfeeding and pumping -- I get to do surgeries, delivering both babies and uterus/masses 🤭🤪. This is where I found my pink back. 🩷

If you feel like you're losing yourself to motherhood, know this—you're not lost. You're evolving. The version of yourself you knew before may feel distant, but what's emerging is someone even more powerful, more resilient, and more capable than you ever imagined.

To my pregnant and post partum patients, YOU got this, Momma. 💪

This is why I advise both parents, and encourage all possible caregiver to your babies, to receive the flu vaccine prior to giving birth. 😊🙏The flu vaccine is the best defense against serious flu-related complications, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, and ear infections. It protects you from serious complications leading to hospitalization and death, it reduces the risk of getting the flu in the first place, and it helps protect those around you, especially high-risk individuals like pregnant mommies and their babies! Remember, they can't get the flu vaccine until they are 6 months old. 💛

A 7-year-old was admitted after a week of respiratory symptoms 😷and 3 days of persistent fever 🤒 (now day 4) with a distressing cough. Respiratory panel confirmed Influenza A. The patient had sick family members at home who also did not receive their flu shots this year. 🙏

👩🏻‍⚕️Titadoctora tips: Always make sure your whole household is protected against flu. ✨ Yearly flu vaccination helps prevent severe infection and spread within the family, especially important when there are young children, infants, or elderly at home. 💉

Throwback to one of the largest ovarian new growth we did at EAMC as Minimally Invasive and Advanced Gynecologic Surgery (MIAGS) fellows.

MIAGS fellowship did not only teach us Minimally Invasive Surgical skills. It is the only fellowship in the country that also incorporates Advanced Pelvic Surgery in the training to be able to gain knowledge, skills and confidence to surgically manage difficult cases such as this.

PS. Please don't let your cysts and tumors grow as humongous as this before you get surgery.🥴😵
