A couple practicing yoga is not just about a mutual decision of getting both physically fit—although they are certainly that! It is also about flowing with the same frequency and creating synergy. What fulfills me as a yoga teacher? It’s that smile my students have on their faces after every practice that says a thousand words. A smile of contentment, peace, and positivity, knowing that they are going home with their hearts full, ready to take on anything because they have faced the challenge of every pose, and connected to their inner self in the process. It doesn’t really matter whether you are advanced or beginner in the poses, whether you can reach your toes or not. There is no judgement in yoga, because the practice is more than just the poses. It is not about being able to stand on your head but knowing that you are strong standing on your own two feet. It is about learning values on the mat and applying it to your life off the mat. Yesterday, we had our first sound bath—a sublime experience for me as a teacher, sharing the power of sounds and vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls to awaken the body’s ability to heal itself. I am blessed and beyond grateful to be as I am now, a yoga teacher who aspires to help people love themselves and discover their strengths and abilities, because I believe that we are all created perfectly by a perfect God, just the way we are.
