Some knowledge of basic first aid could mean the difference between life and death.

Consider doing a first aid course, so that you will be able to manage if someone is injured or becomes ill.

CPR is a life-saving skill that everyone should learn.
Keep a range of first aid kits handy at home, in the car and at work.

Here are the key signs to look for when assessing a bleeding wound:

Severity: Is the bleeding severe? Does it soak through the dressings and continue after direct pressure is applied?

Location: Is the bleeding coming from an artery or vein, or is it a capillary bleed?

Depth: Is the wound deep or shallow? Is it possible that an underlying structure, like a tendon or bone, has been damaged?

Size: Is the wound large or small? Larger wounds will generally require more advanced care..

Associated Symptoms: Is the injured person experiencing pain, numbness, or other symptoms associated with the bleeding?

Medical History: Does the injured person have a history of bleeding disorders, or are they taking medications that may affect clotting, such as blood thinners?

By carefully assessing these factors, you can determine whether the bleeding requires hospitalization and take the appropriate steps to manage the injury..
