Behavior doesn’t happen randomly—it follows a pattern.

In Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), understanding behavior begins with the three-term contingency, or A-B-C:

🔵 Antecedent – What happens before the behavior
🟡 Behavior – The observable and measurable action
🟢 Consequence – What happens after the behavior that influences whether it will happen again

When we identify these three components, we move from simply reacting to behavior to understanding why it happens.

✨ Behavior is communication. By analyzing the A-B-C, parents, teachers, and therapists can design effective supports that promote meaningful behavior changes:
✔ Helps identify triggers
✔ Guides effective intervention
✔ Supports skill development across settings

Understanding the ABCs allows us not just to manage behavior but to teach better alternatives.

Each person brings ideas, creativity, and energy that make communities brighter, more fun, and more connected. Appreciating and celebrating these strengths helps us grow kinder, more understanding, and more compassionate.

This Autism Consciousness Week, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines encourages everyone to embrace, support, and celebrate one another no matter how we see, learn, or experience the world. Because in Scouting, everyone is welcome and has a community to shine.
