A non-government organization lead by veterinary student leaders across the Philippines. "The National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) is an initiative to gather veterinary students studying in both private and state universities from across the Philippines. The Congress aims to provide a venue for veterinary student leaders to communicate and unite in honor of the veterinary profession, to acquire and share knowledge among veterinary students, to develop the potential of its members, to promote camaraderie and good ties among future colleagues, and to create a network of earnest future veterinarians for upholding the veterinary profession. It will also be a way of reforming the social meaning of the veterinary profession as it continually faces challenges in education, research, career paths and over- all positive recognition in the country."

The National Council of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) stands as the unified national organization representing veterinary medicine students across the Philippines. Rooted in service, leadership, and professional excellence, NCVMS serves as the central body that connects student veterinarians from various institutions, fostering collaboration, advocacy, and holistic development within the veterinary profession. This primer is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the organization: its purpose, structure, leadership, and the individuals who sustain its mission.

At the core of NCVMS leadership is the National Executive Council (NEC), the highest governing and implementing body of the organization. The 22nd National Executive Council, led by Dir. Justin Jay V, Bulatao carries the responsibility of translating the organization’s vision into action through strategic planning, program implementation, and coordination with member universities.

Supporting the NEC are the NCVMS Advisers, composed of licensed veterinarians, educators, and respected professionals in the field. Their role is advisory rather than administrative, providing guidance based on experience, ethical standards, and professional insight. Advisers help ensure that NCVMS initiatives align with the values of the veterinary profession and with institutional and national regulations.

NCVMS is anchored by its University Representatives, who serve as the official link between their respective veterinary schools and the national council. Each recognized veterinary institution appoints representatives tasked with voicing student concerns, disseminating national directives, and facilitating participation in NCVMS programs.

Beyond the NEC and representatives, NCVMS operates through various standing and ad hoc committees, such as media, education, seminar, public relations, and outreach. These committees allow members to actively engage based on their interests and skills, fostering participatory leadership and shared responsibility.

This primer reflects the collective identity of NCVMS: an organization shaped by its history, strengthened by its leaders, and sustained by the commitment of veterinary medicine students nationwide. 🤍🩵💙
