Beware of Fake Calls and Letters Using the Name of the Medical Center Chief

Ilocos Sur Medical Center (ISMC) has received reports of individuals falsely using the name of our Medical Center Chief, Dr. Angel D. Trinidad III, to solicit money from companies under the guise of charity.

We emphasize that Dr. Trinidad has never authorized any form of solicitation. Any calls, letters, emails, or messages claiming to represent him or his office are fraudulent.

ISMC does not and will never request financial contributions from contractors, partners, or the public. These acts are scams and misrepresent the institution.

The public is advised to stay cautious. Do not respond, give personal information, or send money to anyone claiming to represent Dr. Trinidad or ISMC.

If you receive any suspicious communication, please report it immediately through our official contact details:

In line with the directive of the Department of Health, Ilocos Sur Medical Center will open its Outpatient Departments (OPD) and conduct simultaneous medical missions, free consultations, diagnostic services, and health education lectures this September 13, 2025 (Saturday).

When 75-year-old Dominador Baculi of Ilocos Sur was rushed to the provincial hospital for a prostate infection last May, his son Gary feared the bill more than the illness.

“Without PhilHealth, we would have paid over ₱17,000 for the tests, medicines, and hospital stay,” Gary said.

“Because of No Balance Billing, we didn’t spend a single peso. My father’s health improved, and we avoided a huge financial burden.”

Gary’s experience reflects what the government hopes to achieve under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push to strengthen the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law: ensuring that quality treatment is not a privilege but a right, especially for the poor and the elderly.

Safety net for families

Dominador was confined at the Ilocos Sur Medical Center (ISMC) in Candon City from May 18 to 21, 2025.

Like other Department of Health (DOH) hospitals, ISMC implements PhilHealth’s No Balance Billing (NBB) policy, which guarantees that patients admitted to basic ward accommodations pay nothing out of pocket. | By Aila T. Villanueva
