Over the course of 3 days (April 3-5, 2024), team from Health Emergency Management Staff of Provincial Health Office (HEMS-PHO) - Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital-Gabriela Silang (ISPH-GS) conducted training sessions to equip lay rescuers of the municipality of Caoayan MDRRMO with the essential skills and knowledge required for basic life support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) interventions. The training aimed to empower participants to effectively respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate assistance to individuals in distress.
The training sessions were delivered by experienced HEMS of Provincial Health Office team together with HEMS-ISPH-GS expertise in emergency medical response, BLS and SFA protocols. Through interactive presentations, demonstrations, and practical exercises, trainers effectively conveyed concepts in an accessible manner, ensuring participant comprehension and engagement throughout the training.
The basic life support and standard first aid training for lay rescuers conducted by the health emergency staff proved to be a valuable educational initiative. By equipping participants with essential life-saving skills and fostering a culture of preparedness and responsiveness, the training contributes to building a safer and more resilient community. Continued efforts to provide regular training and reinforcement of BLS and SFA skills will further enhance the readiness of lay rescuers to effectively respond to medical emergencies and save lives.
