The Casiguran Rural Health Unit and Birthing Clinic Building Vicente Teepecuy, under the Municipal Health Office, successfully conducted the Program Implementation Review, Monitoring and Evaluation (PIR-ME) 2025 on December 20, 2025 at Kendria Event Hall, Barangay Calantas, Casiguran, Aurora.

The activity served as a platform to assess the performance, outcomes, and implementation gaps of priority health programs for CY 2025 using LGU Health Score Card and Priority Health Agenda indicators, facilitate participatory discussions among MHO personnel and DOH-deployed Human Resources for Health, and recognize outstanding health workers through Gawad Casiguruhan sa Kalusugan 2025 and SAFE-BHS Conferment of Awards. The activity also included team-building workshops and open forum sessions to strengthen collaboration, communication, and shared accountability among health program implementers.

We look back on the successful implementation of the SAFE Barangay Health Station (SAFE-BHS) Program, highlighted by the Onsite Inspection conducted on December 18โ€“19, 2025, led by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Merill A. Danay, together with the MHO Section Heads, with the full support of the Municipal Government of Casiguran under the leadership of the Municipal Mayor.

The onsite inspection formed part of the SAFE-BHS Programโ€™s continuing efforts to assess compliance with safety, sanitation, infection prevention and control (IPC), facility readiness, and basic service delivery standards across all Barangay Health Stationsโ€”serving as a benchmark for continuous quality improvement in primary health care.

The Top Performing Barangay Health Stations were formally recognized during the PIR cm Gawad Casiguruhan sa Kalusugan and Conferment of Awards for SAFE-BHS 2025 on December 20, 2025, acknowledging BHSs that demonstrated exemplary compliance, initiative, and commitment to safe and quality health services.

Salamat sa SK ng Barangay Bianoan sa aktibong pagtataguyod ng HIV Prevention bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng World AIDS Day 2025.

Sa kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan sa ating opisina-Municipal Health Office (MHO), isinagawa ang HIV 101 orientation sa pamamagitan ng pamamahagi ng IEC materials, libreng condoms at lubricants, at isang pre-test na may agarang rationalization upang masukat at mapalalim ang kaalaman ng kabataan tungkol sa HIV at AIDS.

GAWAD SALUBRIDAD AWARDING CEREMONY 2025

The Municipal Health Office of Casiguran, under the leadership of Dr. Merill A. Danay, successfully conducted the Gawad Salubridad Awarding Ceremony to honor barangays that achieved Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) and those that accomplished at least 70% of households with complete basic sanitation facilities. The term โ€œSalubridad,โ€ borrowed from the Spanish language, means cleanliness, health, or public health. In Filipino, it refers to the state of being clean and maintaining conditions that promote good health and sanitation. This ceremony highlights the municipalityโ€™s continued commitment to strengthening sanitation, improving public health, and enhancing community well-being.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Hon. Roynald S. Soriano, Municipal Mayor, who attended to show his full support for the program. In his message, Mayor Soriano shared that the awarding reflects the real and meaningful results of the municipalityโ€™s sanitation programsโ€”particularly the distribution of free toilet bowls and the construction of basic sanitation facilities, which have allowed more families to gain access to safe and functional toilets, contributing to a healthier Casiguran. He also stressed the importance of strong cooperation between the LGU, barangays, and community partners, emphasizing that continuous efforts in health and sanitation are essential for Casiguran to achieve its shared goal of becoming a Municipal-Wide Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) community.

One of the major highlights of the program was the Presentation of Sanitation Accomplishments, which showcased the municipalityโ€™s progress from 79.5% sanitation coverage in 2020 to 88.84% in 2025. This upward trend reflects the impact of various initiatives, intensified community monitoring, and ongoing efforts to strengthen sanitation practices at the household level. These accomplishments demonstrate the combined efforts of barangay leaders, health workers, and community members.

The event also recognized the dedication of the Municipal Verification Team, whose thorough validation and verification work ensured that all recognized barangays met the standards required under the Philippine Approach to Sustainable Sanitation (PhATSS). Their efforts helped ensure accuracy, fairness, and reliability in the ZOD certification process.

The Gawad Salubridad Awarding Ceremony serves as a celebration of teamwork, commitment, and public service. It reflects the municipalityโ€™s collective determination to build a cleaner, safer, and healthier Casiguran. The Municipal Health Office extends its heartfelt congratulations to all awardees and expresses its gratitude to the LGU, barangays, and community partners for their unwavering support.
