In a milestone moment at Southern Luzon State University - Catanauan Extension (SLSU-CE) on January 10, 2024, the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) successfully delivered its first-ever CERTCON 2024, themed "Unleashing the Power of Preparedness."
The event commenced with Mr. Rolando Custodio, MDRRMO of Catanauan, delivering a thought-provoking discourse. His insights focused on empowering communities through proactive disaster preparedness, setting the tone for an engaging and informative session. Following suit, FO2 Jasper P. Germedia from BFP (Catanauan) took the stage as a Guest Speaker, providing a comprehensive overview of effective firefighting techniques and collaborative emergency response measures. His expertise illuminated key strategies crucial for mitigating risks and enhancing the safety of communities. Adding a local perspective, the Brgy. Madulao Committee of Catanauan, represented as Guest Speakers, shared invaluable insights into their grassroots initiatives for disaster management. Their involvement underscored the importance of community-driven efforts in building resilience.
Notably, the event marked the inaugural gathering of CERT members from SLSU-CE, who actively participated in discussions, workshops, and simulation exercises. The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by these CERT members underscored the dedication of the university community towards fostering a culture of safety and preparedness.
