The World Food Day is celebrated annually every 16th of October. This year marks the 42nd Observance of World Food Day, with the theme “Leave no one behind. Better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all”.

The Department of Education, through the Bureau of Learner Support Services, encourages everyone to commemorate the celebration by bringing together and enjoining stakeholders to take part in promoting global awareness and action to eradicate hunger and ensuring healthy diets for all, leaving no one behind.

October is National Mental Health Month!

The National Mental Health Week starts on Monday, October 10, which is also the World Mental Health Day.

The theme for this year’s observance, as announced by the Department of Health, is “Mental Health and Wellbeing for All: Promoting Mental Health in Physical and Virtual Spaces.” This month, we bring together and enjoin DepEd stakeholders to take part in ensuring the mental health and well-being of all personnel and learners both in schools and physical workspaces, and online.

The 48th Nutrition Month celebration with the theme "New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon."

Makatutulong ang pagkain ng mga masustansyang pagkain para maging malakas at malusog ang katawan ng mga bata. Ito rin ay mahalaga upang sila’y magkaroon ng better school performance at maging matibay ang kanilang resistensya, pati na rin ng buong pamilya lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya. Isa sa mga paraan upang masigurong sariwa at maayos ang kalidad ng pagkain ng pamilya, ay ang pagkakaroon ng sariling tanim na gulay sa mga tahanan. Maaaring maging sapat ang supply ng masusustansyang gulay para sa pamilya kahit patuloy na tumataas ang presyo ng mga pagkain sa pamilihan. Ang mga inaning gulay ay mula sa backyard garden ay siguradong fresh at ligtas para sa consumption ng buong pamilya. Dagdag pa ito sa kagandahan ng bahay at paligid lalo na kung naging maayos at wasto ang pag-aalaga sa mga ito.

Linangin ang kakayahan ng mga bata sa pagtatanim at ito’y isama sa mga regular na family bonding. Pagtatanim ay ugaliin, malusog na kinabukasan ay aanihin!

“Sabay tayong babangon, magpa-booster ngayon!”

Today, the Schools Division Office of Samar spearheaded by the Schools Division Superintendent Carmela R. Tamayo and School Health & Nutrition Section Head Dr. Angelica C. Rodriguez has joined an overarching campaign of DOH called "PinasLakas". 🥳

The activity aims to lobby for strengthened interventions toward ensuring the goal in increasing COVID-19 vaccination coverage, especially the booster doses.

In attendance also are the Division Nurses of SDO Samar. 😍

Bahagi ng isang overall wellness ang maayos na mental health, kung kaya’t bukod sa pagtutok sa nutritional status ng mga mag-aaral, mahalagang bigyan din ng pansin ang kanilang kalusugang pangkaisipan. Mahalaga ang palagiang paggabay at pag-unawa mula mga magulang o guardian.
Ayon sa pag-aaral, ang mga batang nakagawiang kumain ng mga masusustansyang pagkain ay nagtataglay ng mas maayos na mental health at well-being. Nakatutulong ito upang mag-improve ang kanilang attention span, focus at overall school performance.
