As we welcome new students into the SSU community, it is essential to prioritize the health and safety of everyone on campus. This is why we require all incoming first-year and transferee students to undergo a chest X-ray and drug test. Here are the key reasons for these requirements:
1. 𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒚
Ensuring that students are free from infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis (TB), helps protect the entire campus community. A chest X-ray is a vital tool in detecting TB, which can be contagious and pose serious health risks.
2. 𝑫𝒓𝒖𝒈-𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕
A drug test helps maintain a safe and conducive learning environment. By identifying and addressing substance abuse issues early, we can provide support and resources to students in need, while promoting a healthy campus culture.
3. 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔
In accordance with BOR Resolution No. 55, s. 2019, and BOR Resolution No. 25, s. 2020, SSU adheres to mandated health screening policies. These resolutions underscore the importance of health assessments as part of our commitment to student well-being and institutional compliance.
4. 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
Health screenings can identify potential health issues before they become serious. Early detection allows for timely intervention, treatment, and support, enabling students to focus on their studies and personal development.
5. 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚
By implementing these health measures, SSU demonstrates its commitment to fostering a supportive and healthy community. We aim to provide a safe space where all students can thrive academically and personally.
6. 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕, 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
It is crucial to emphasize that these tests are not designed to persecute or stigmatize students. Instead, they aim to identify health issues early, provide necessary support, and ensure that students receive appropriate care. Our goal is to help every student succeed and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
7. 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆
All health information obtained through these tests will be kept strictly confidential. SSU is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and will ensure that their personal health information is handled with the utmost care and discretion.
Undergoing a chest X-ray and drug test is a simple yet crucial step in ensuring a healthy, safe, and productive environment for everyone at SSU. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to making our campus a better place for all.
