Our Clinic-based Laboratory was once just a vision, a family business made possible by the efforts of each family member. One of our stakeholders, Dr. Desiree Grana Castillones, after her training in Internal Medicine and serving as a volunteer in their municipality, saw the need of the people for additional access to healthcare. Moreover, she saw that people were apprehensive in seeking medical care further away in larger, hospital-based clinics in the face of pandemic. This sense of urgency moved her to discuss and address the pressing problem with her brother, Mel Rashed Grana Castillones, who once served as a Medical Technologist in the Municipality of Cateel, Davao Oriental, along with his wife, Dr. Marianne Bulangkit-Castillones, who also worked as a Medical Technologist in a government hospital and an aspiring Pediatrician as well. Together, they established Eastcoast Medical and Diagnostic Clinic (ECMDC) to provide quality healthcare to the people in their hometown. Going back to their roots, ECMDC, based in Cateel, will accomodate not only the people of Cateel, but will also cater to the neighboring town of Boston, Davao Oriental. This company envisions to expand and extend its accessible and reliable medical services to other under-served areas, particularly those in far-flung towns and municipalities where medical facilities and equipment are not readily available and/or nearby, God willing.
