The Philippines is one of 21 countries in the Western Pacific that have conducted a JEE since the process was introduced in 2016. Notably, it is one of only three countries in the region to have completed a second JEE, demonstrating its dedication to advancing health security preparedness and response capacities.

Results from the first JEE in 2018 guided the country in implementing targeted improvements. Over the past five years, significant milestones have been made, including the proactive revision of plans, assessments of priority health risks, and enhancements in disaster response mechanisms.

The Provincial Government of Bohol, led by Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, has declared a dengue outbreak following a significant surge in cases. From January to August 24, 5,834 cases and 14 deaths were recorded—a 451.4% increase from last year’s 971 cases.

Executive Order No. 34 was issued after the Provincial Anti-Dengue Task Force (PADTF) recommended the declaration. Several towns, including Tagbilaran City, Talibon, and Trinidad, have surpassed the epidemic threshold.

In response, the government allocated ₱5.3 million for IV fluids, testing kits, and beds for provincial hospitals. Governor Aumentado also signed Executive Order No. 33, forming a task force to lead dengue control efforts, chaired by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez.

Local government units (LGUs) are now expected to reactivate task forces and implement the 4S strategy—Search and Destroy, Self-protection, Seek Early Consultation, and Support Fogging—to combat the outbreak and protect public health.

Don Emilio Del Valle Memorial Hospital (DEDVMH) regrets to inform the public that our Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services are temporarily suspended until further notice. This suspension is due to a spontaneous quench of the helium used in our MRI system.

While this event is rare, it necessitates immediate maintenance to ensure the safety and functionality of our equipment.

Please be assured that our team is actively working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and apologize for any disruption to your healthcare needs.
