Sitting for the majority of the day can lead to numerous health issues, including back pain and heart disease, to name a few. Therefore, the majority of studies recommend regular exercise to alleviate these issues. Always look for the RIGHT healthcare professionals...

Quick advice from : do simple research to check whether that healthcare professional is legit or not.

"Nagpahilot po kami."
This is sadly a frequent initial action whenever a patient complains of any pain, much more in the neck, back and extremities. Hilot might just solve it.

I personally hate this mentality.
I've seen my share of cases wherein the traditional hilot has caused more harm than good. This is one of the many personal cases that I encountered.

A 4 year old girl, who accidentally tripped and fell down a few steps of the stairs.

The patient's parents brought her to a "manghihilot" initially, and for two or three more times because the pain and swelling that were just getting worse.

Eventually, after a few months, they brought the patient to me. The child was limping and could barely walk.

Her right thigh was markedly swollen, I was told that she fell a few months back and was initially 'okay' and there was just a recurring pain. I immediately thought of a neglected fracture. This was the x-ray of the patient. I was just so mad and disappointed at the parent. I told them, never ever go a manghihilot again for anything.

I referred this case to a ortho friend. I hope the patient is doing better now.

So please, always seek a doctor's advice before doing anything.

The review concluded that for people with type 2 diabetes every 30 min/week of supervised moderate to vigorous intensity aerobic exercise training significantly reduced HbA1c, with the greatest reduction seen with 100 min/week, compared to no intervention or usual activity. The certainty of the evidence was rated strong.
